A representative from the Benson Business Improvement District reported Tuesday that Maple Street in downtown Benson will have new streetlights installed, probably in March. The acorn-style glass finial features energy-efficient lighting. More details below:
General Description
- Street lights provide ambient light levels for visibility and safety of streets, sidewalks and sites.
- Lighting types include decorative, vehicular use, general site, pedestrian use or feature lighting.
The new poles will be 16′ high and could allow hardware to be attached which on which banners would be hung.
About Kurt Goetzinger
Kurt Goetzinger is the owner and operator of Omaha Advertising, a small advertising/public relations firm in Omaha. He has served on the boards of the Benson Neighborhood Association and Benson Business Association. In 2003 Kurt started the community website www.BensonNebraska.com In 2009 he launched and continues as the administrator of the Benson, Nebraska Facebook page and Twitter account.
Kurt and his family moved to Benson in 1975, when his father's company was transferred from Chicago. He was educated at Omaha Central High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Kurt owns a 1911 farmhouse at 60th & Lafayette on the south side of Benson. In 2010 he purchased the empty lot next door, turning it into Benson Community Garden.
He is the father of a grown son; Conrad, and two daughters; Gabriella and Daphne. In his spare time, Kurt is active in the bicycle community (advocating for additional cycling infrastructure) and working on environmental/conservation issues.
