Louis Market Closing

City Councilman Pete Festersen shot us this message about Louis Market:

I’ve been in contact with a part owner of the property several times in the last few weeks.  The site is for sale and they are interested in redevelopment opportunities that would benefit Benson.

I reminded them that the area is part of the Benson Tax Increment Financing District and the Benson Business Improvement District that we recently adopted and of the new 58th construction project which could help in their efforts.

Thanks, Councilman, for all you do for Benson!

Public Meeting/Workshop: The Future of Fontenelle Park

Thursday, December 15, 2011
6:30-8:00 pm
Fontenelle Park Pavilion
4401 Fontenelle Blvd.

The City of Omaha is hosting a public meeting Thursday to get input on design concepts for Fontenelle Park. Interested citizens are invited to attend to discuss ideas that were presented at the previous public meeting and describe ideas for the park in small group sessions.

Original Location Considered for Rosenblatt Stadium
“In 1947 John Rosenblatt explored the park as the possible location for the city’s new Triple A minor league baseball team. However, neighborhood opposition forced the city to look elsewhere, and the stadium ended up in Deer Park, where it eventually hosted the Omaha Royals and was named Rosenblatt Stadium in honor of its advocate.” –  Wikipedia

The historic 108-acre park currently features two ballfields, two basketball courts, sprayground, a 9-hole golf course, picnic area, fishing, paths and a beautiful lagoon.

If you can’t attend the meeting, but have feedback on the City’s plan for the park, contact officials by clicking HERE.
